As if I haven’t done my share of meetings this month, it was the BLOC54 Belfast Games Company Meetup. It took place at Ground Espresso (not Common Ground, totally different place on the other side of town, don’t ask me how I know that).
It was actually really good to be able to regurgitate all I learned from the GameConnection event to all the Belfast gamers. I can’t say I’ve been to more than two of these BLOC events – I don’t even know what BLOC stands for tbh – but it was great to know that I’m not too far out of touch with the local indie scene and still knew most of the attendees present.
Overall, I can conclude that the gaming world may be an Island of Terror, but it’s good to have a solid batch of stand-up guys and gals to trade war stories with.
I love that the Belfast indie scene isn’t about competition. Nobody’s cagey about secrets, everybody shares what they’re working on and throws out honest feedback. I mean, the industry is so small here that we managed to fit, like, ALL of us in a coffee shop, and still have room for other customers, so what else can we do but boost each other up?
Great to see you guys, keep up the awesome!
